Deuteronomy 29:29:

The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.  KJV

There are matters that are known only by the Lord, but He has revealed many things in His Word to help us understand who He is and the precepts He wants us to live by.  As the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:16-17:

¹⁶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  ¹⁷ That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.  KJV
