God hasn’t told us to do anything without giving us the ability to do it. It is no different with spiritual warfare. Why did Paul use the imagery of armor to illustrate his teaching on this subject? He got a revelation from his environment. He wrote the majority of his epistles from prison chained to a Roman soldier dressed in armor. On a smaller Roman soldier, this armor weighed between 75 to 80 pounds. On some soldiers, the weight exceeded 100 pounds. If you were to dress with that kind of weight on your body, it would be hard for you to move around for very long, if at all. The same thing is true spiritually. God has given us spiritual weapons. But not only has he given them to us — he has given us the power and ability to use them. Find out how on tonight’s Home Group!
