In addition to his reputation for monumental building projects, Herod also had a reputation for his explosive anger. Herod’s persistent fears and suspicions of losing his throne to a rival are what fueled the fire of his recurring murderous acts, including the massacre of all the babies in Bethlehem. Miraculously, through all this mayhem, Jesus and His parents were protected and placed out of the reach of Herod’s murderous hands. It is important to realize that regardless of the enemy’s evil schemes, God’s plans and purposes will prevail and be fulfilled in your life as you trust and obey Him.
