There is no greater gift we can give our children than the covering of prayer. In a world filled with uncertainty, chaos, and competing voices, the prayers of a parent stand as a powerful spiritual shield — anchoring our sons and daughters in God’s truth, love, and protection. Whether whispered in the quiet of a nursery or spoken aloud over a teenager’s bowed head, these prayers invite God into the children’s lives in ways both seen and unseen. Here are some verses to pray over your children:
Philippians 4:6: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Joshua 1:9: “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Philippians 4:19: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Psalm 91:1-2: “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
James 1:5: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
Proverbs 4:23: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
1 John 2:28: “And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.”
Colossians 3:17, 23: “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. […] And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”
Psalm 84:11: “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
Prayer isn’t a last resort — it’s our greatest weapon and our children’s strongest covering. In a world that constantly tries to shape their identities and steal their peace, we have the authority to speak God’s truth over their lives. These scriptures are not suggestions; they are spiritual ammunition. Declare them. Stand on them. Let your prayers be relentless, intentional, and full of faith. Your voice in prayer echoes in Heaven and makes war with the unseen.
In Christ,
